Bullying

Hey guys! I know I haven't posted lately, and the reason is because I've been trying to think of a good topic. I thought of one just now: Bullying. This week is bullying awareness week at many elementary, middle, and high schools. Bullying is something that definatly needs to be addressed, because as much as we hate to admit, we loose thousands of good people to scuicide over bullying every year. Yeah, that was a long sentence. Continuing, there are lots of things we can do to stop bullying. At school, your teachers probably tell you to say something or tell an adult- However, I know that we don't always do that. I know, it seems hard to do it when you're the victim, or a bystander- or maybe you're the bully. I know what it's like to be in all three situations. I get teased at school, however we all do. The key is to laugh it off and stay at the top of your game, and treat the insult like it's nothing. Sometimes, though, it can be much worse than teasing or playful name-calling. If you are a target of threats, you really should tell someone. But don't take it from me- do it for yourself. If you see bullying you should try and do something about it- it's just kinda rude to let someone take the threats and attacks and not say or do anything about it. If you are a bully...You should probably stop. I've got a few tips for you: One, I don't know if you're as close to your parents as I am, but usually if I can talk to one of my parents they help me. Two, I figure you might be insecure? Fix it! You're not strong? Push-ups! Don't have abs? Sit-ups! Don't get good grades? STUDY. You can do it! If you have a bad homelife, ask for help? I know once you start beating people up, you like how it feels, but it's not ok to do that. People will die because of you. Y'know, if you be nice, you might actually get a friend or two. Power from bullying won't get you anywhere in life. Good friends will. Good education will. Read "Letters to a Bullied Girl" sometime. Maybe you'll get the picture then. On that note, I'd like to say that this Wednesday, October 10, is Bully Awareness Day, so wear your orange and Stand Up, Step Up, And Let Your Voice Be Heard.

Eighth Grade

That amazing year when being the "top dogs" actually means something to you, and the magical time where you wonder if you were that short as a sixth grader. Everything is different, as people are finally growing into their age, and you start getting better at sports. Everything is fun for the first few days, when you realize you're in the same classes as all of your friends and that you have all the best teachers...But them someone drops the bomb: You had Spanish homework. I'm just messing. 8th grade is really a magical time for middle schoolers, and I've learned it can be nerve-wracking and stressful- and I've also learned that those two words mean exactly the same thing. I needed help- and still do- getting through eighth grade with all the drama (or lack of)and so I figured I would do this: A School Survival Guide. I'll put whatever I learn here so that maybe people can learn from my mistakes. Maybe. So far I've learned that the first few days are vital- So don't miss those. IF you do, then try to catch up; learn everyone's name, kiss up to your teachers, ask for missing assignments, etc. And never forget to turn things in! The zeros will kill you! I know, I know, I sound like your teacher, but they're right- Trust me, I know. I had all those zeros once....And it wasn't pretty. Secondly, you might want to practice for that playing test in band, or take another look at those lyrics for chorus, or that one recipe that's been bothering you in life skills- Don't you want to nail things the first time so you aren't shamed when you fail? If you learn and practice, you won't have to fail. (I hate failing, it sucks. People in band class are rude and they laugh. Don't fail.) If somthing's bothering you, talk about it! To a friend, a parent, a teacher, a pet, anyone! I garuntee you're not the only one with the problem. Maybe a teacher's going too fast and you don't understand- Just say so! I've had a tough time this year because all of my friends are on other teams. I always thought it was really hard for me to meet and make new friends, but turns out it's really not! It was all in my head and I was my own worst enemy, keeping myself from making new friends. Appearently there were a couple people out there, just waiting to say hello. I'm sure there are people for you to meet all around you, all you have to do is say hi! You're not alone! In closure, I'd just like to say that just because eighth grade is different, maybe "bigger", than sixth or seventh grade doesn't mean you have to be afraid of it. If something's bothering you, don't let it get to you, take it down! Things'll get better as time goes on, I promise.

Donating

First of all: Today I started donating money to certain places.
Second: I want other people to help out, too.
So here's what you can do:
Look up a place to donate money to (For example: The Amani Children's Foundation).
Find their address (3288 Robinhood Road #107)
And mail your money. I am donating to three different places: The Amani Children's Foundation, the Humane Society, and my church. I'm doing this because I found alot of money that had been stored away in my house. I decided that I didn't need all of it, and it would be nice to help out. I chose amounts to donate, and today I'm sending it off. I think the world needs our help. The adults are leaving this trashed world to us, and it's our job to clean up after them. We need to help out around the world, now.

Blog Critique

I 'interviewed' one of my viewers, asking what they thought about the blog. This is what she said:

"When you post you on the blog all of your posts are the same; different, but the same. They're about the same things. But when it is interesting, rarely, you only skim the surface or 'test the water with your pinkie toe.' Broadening on the post would be great. When you just talk about it a little bit, it gets good, and then it gets gone. Dig deep, don't be scared."

What I think I could do better is as following:

If I could do a little better with my posts; they aren't long, or informative, enough. If anyone else wants to help me get better at anything, tell me.

Road Side Rot

Today, driving home, I was looking out the car window at the roadsides. All I saw were tall grasses, plastic bags, food rappers, paper, and dead animals. This is not pleasing to anybody, I KNOW it. When people are out driving around the want at least to have a scenic view, with out trash clouding the vision. People shouldn't litter for lots of reasons, but this is another that might not be listed as often: When people litter the smell of food rappers draws the attention of scavenging animals. When they walk out into the road to find something to eat, chances are, they'll get hit. No body wants to see that! Or, more importantly, do that! Littering is a CRIME, a federal offense (or something like that). If you are caught littering you will be assigned community service, or worse. We need to think about what we're doing to our world. It's the only one we've got.

Car Fumes

Last night around 9:30 my family and I were coming back from a celebration. When we went down Miller Street and a car came down the street in front of us, its exhaust was so thick it made a thick fog on the road. This is an example of pollution. Pollution is not good for our atmosphere. I recommend that we, the kids, schedule a biking day. please comment to give dates that you think it would be appropriate. Thank you.

Let's Help the Homeless

This summer my sister and I are going to help the homeless people that we see at the busy intersections. We are going to give them things like:

A sandwich or beenie weenies
crackers
gummies
bottled water
a cookie
a spoon
socks
and gum


You should help them to. It's not fair that they have to go through this because a stupid slip of paper. So we should use our stupid slips of paper to help Them.

9.SCOOP THE POOP! Pet feces are also a water pollutant, so, PICK IT UP!

10.When your family stays at a hotel reuse towels wash clothes and sheets.

11. Paint "NO DUMPING" on storm drains (with non toxic paint)

12.Reuse water bottles!

13.Water plants in the morning, water doesn't evaporate as fast when the air is cool.

14.Recycle!!!!!!

15.Volunteer at an aquarium to learn about marine life.

16. Scrape left overs into the trash instead of making compost.

17.Leash law! dogs can scare away animals that live on the beach.

18. Only buy what you NEED. (definitoin of need: nesscisary for life!)

19. Don't feed wild animals, they need to be able to provide for themselves.

20. Share these tips with friends and family!

All Kinds of Bobs And Flowers

BobbyJoe's, BobbyJane's, and BobbySue's. Those are all flower people that me and my friend are making. Most of the "Bobby's" are girls and the girls have purple on the top of the flower. The type of flower that we recomend is the clover flower. Which brings us to BobbySue.BobbySue's are actually made of a three leaf clover. BobbyJoe's,which I think I forgot to mention, are clover flowers with no pink on the top of the flower. Those are what All the Bobby's are. They each cost $0.25.

Reduse, Reuse, Recycle!
If you do these three thing our planet will much cleaner, After all this is the planet we will be in heriting from our parents. Keep a compost bin and put food scraps(that can't be served as left-overs, or fed to a pet)in it.

Listen Up! A Notice to All Bloggers

Ok bloggers,
As you all probably know this blog is SUPPOSED to be mostly about global warming and cleaning up after litter bugs, and pollutionists (my new name that I came up with that means people who pollute stuff.).But this post is about animals. See in the Ardmore area, there are people who don't really take good care of thier pets, so the dogs and cats are wandering around and getting lost and killed. Please if you see a stray animal, if it's friendly, look at its tag and take it home. If it's not friendly you may want to call animal control. Take care of all animals;don't harm them because they never did anything to you.
